Development & Implementation of Community Based Trainings for Climate Smart Agriculture in Northern Uganda.
Project Brief
Uganda Landcare Network (ULN) in Partnership with German Cooperation (GIZ) is implementing a partnership project on Development and Implementation of Community Based Trainings for Climate Smart Agriculture in Seven Districts in Acholi and Lanugo Sub Regions namely: Amolator, Dokolo, Agago, Kitgum, Oyam, Lira, and Napak
Overview of Project Activities include; Development of Climate Smart Agriculture Training Manual, Capacity Building of 55 Community Based Trainers, strengthening of 200 Farmer Organisation (FO) to develop at least one action per group, Establishment of 14 demonstrations and 20 Community Based Natural Resources Action areas and Development in the 7 Districts in Acholi region.
Project Focus: Capacity building of Local Governments (LGs) Improved market integration, Agricultural Farming, Promotion of Climate Smart Agriculture practices (PROSCA) and Water for production. the entry point is through Farmers registered under the District Farmers Associations (DFA) or District Cooperatives (DCO’s).
Targets:
- 25,000 farmers to benefit from the project
- A training Manual on CSA practices to be used as a teaching aid
- Training and use of 55 Community Based Trainers to train 3-4 farmer groups and report on monthly basis.
- Community Based Trainers receive trainings from the Masters trainers and coach and mentor them to do the trainings ensuring quality and right methods.
- 14 Demonstrations established in the project sites; 2 demos per District
- At least 20 Community Based Natural Resource Management Action sites identified and supported involving communities a bit wider than farm level.
- At least 200 group Action plans facilitated and developed
